There’s not many people who like to get on their moral high horse more than Gary Neville, so it was a bit weird that he Liked and RT’d a Tweet announcing that charges of attempted rape and assault had been dropped against Mason Greenwood yesterday.
Not sure that having charges dropped is the same as being ‘innocent’, but OK. Obviously a ReTweet does not equal an endorsement, but the fact Neville also Liked the Tweet suggested the United legend was pleased about the developments, even though the evidence that Mason Greenwood is a woman-beating scumbag was made public a long time ago…
The power of money honestly how have all charges against Mason Greenwood been dropped and he can go back to playing football. Are you forgetting what the scumbag done?
Just in case you did, here’s a reminder!!

After the whole of Twitter began calling for Gary Neville to be sacked, he Unliked the Tweet and posted this:
I liked a tweet relating to the Mason Greenwood news this afternoon from Nazir Afzal. ( the former director of public prosecutions ). This like is being misinterpreted. It was a clumsy like as I obviously condemn any violence against women.

So there you have it – it was a clumsy like. In fairness he may have just absent-mindedly Liked it as a ‘thank you’ to the guy for Tweeting out the information rather than to celebrate its content but I guess someone like him needs to be extra careful with this sort of thing. Obviously Greenwood is a sick talent and so I’m sure there are Manchester United fans who could care less about the rape charges and just want him back on the pitch, but equally there are others who don’t want to see him in a United shirt ever again.
As for the club itself, they put out the following statement:
Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped.
The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete.
Will be interesting to see how they proceed from here. Meanwhile, the jury’s still out on the Thomas Partey case…
