Gareth Southgate Reveals What Jack Grealish Said To Him After Being Subbed Off

One of the more unconventional decisions made by Gareth Southgate in the classic England V Denmark match on Wednesday night was to substitute Jack Grealish for Kieran Trippier and move to a five man defence after Harry Kane had scored in extra time, especially as Grealish had only come on as a substitute himself halfway through the second half.

Whilst Southgate’s plan worked to perfection, many were worried about the effect that this would have on Grealish and whether or not he would feel like he had been mugged off by Southgate. Turns out that this couldn’t be further from the truth, as Southgate himself revealed in a press conference yesterday:

In the end, he said to me ‘Gaffer, it doesn’t matter. I’m not bothered. We’ve got to the final.

Awesome. Really is great to see this England team all seemingly on the same page and not descending into spiteful cliques like they used to back in the day – and that’s probably one reason why they’ve made it all the way to the final on Saturday. Hopefully we’ll see something very special indeed come Sunday night.

For more of the same, check out this England fan falling off his seat on Wednesday and almost dying but still celebrating. Legend.
