2) Aerogel
No, this isn’t witchcraft, this is science fact. No wizards necessary. Aerogel is as light as a feather, well lighter actually, but it can still hold the weight of a car and withstand the heat of a blowtorch. It’s nothing short of miraculous.
Aerogels are made from a gel, they simply take out the liquid and you’re left with the bits in between. The substance has, for obvious reasons, been referred to as “frozen smoke” and “blue smoke”. Aerogels can be made with a number of ingredients, including graphene, one of the strongest and most conductive materials known to man.
The only problem is that aerogels are quite brittle, but don’t worry, they’re working on that. Here are a few images of aerogel being otherworldly. Amazing stuff:
