5) Metamaterials
Metamaterials could finally herald the dawn of the invisibility cloak we’ve been waiting for. They have properties that are designed to scatter light in interesting ways. This means you can get the material to flick light away from the object and make it effectively invisible.
Another amazing thing about metamaterials is that they don’t just reflect light, they can reflect microwaves, radiowaves, or lesser-known T-rays, which are between microwaves and infrared light on the electromagnetic spectrum.
The possibilites of metamaterials are vast, but for now, they are only showing their skills in the lab. You’ll have to wait a little bit longer before you get the invisible jacket you’re so desperate for.
Once again, Mr Science has shown up and kicked my brain marbles across the floor. When you look at how science was perceived in the Middle Ages it’s amazing how far we’ve come.
