There’s been a lot of criticism aimed at the Marvel Cinematic Universe recently for putting out way too many movies/TV shows and oversaturating the market with lesser characters and ideas but ‘Secret Invasion’ looks as if it could be a return to form for the franchise.

‘The six part Disney+ series tells the story of Nick Fury’s return to Earth to combat the Skrulls, shapeshifting aliens who have managed to infiltrate the highest echelons of society in their bid to take over the Earth. Fury clearly can’t trust anyone due to their ability to impersonate anyone which is only going to make his task even more difficult.

In Secret Invasion, set in the present-day MCU, Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls.

Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.

That does look a lot better than some of the stuff Marvel has been putting out recently doesn’t it? It’s a bit more serious than some of the last few movies and the actions sequences are also looking gritty and urgent, so I’m hoping that this series lives up to expectations.

‘Secret Invasion’ was also one of my favourite comic book series of all time, so I’m confident that Marvel will be able to do it justice after a couple of duds as Phase 5 ramps up. Let’s do this.
