I was going to shy away from the Madeleine McCann story because every major news outlet seems to be leading with it despite the Black Lives Matter movement and riots in both this country and America being way more important at this time, but I figured I should probably at least acknowledge it. Kinda convenient how it’s broken in the middle of a pretty iffy time politically for the government isn’t it?

Anyway, the news came out yesterday that a man who was already serving prison time for child sex offences and sex crimes in Germany had been identified as a suspect in the Madeleine McCann case. His name is Christian Brueckner and he’s currently 43 years old and serving time in a German prison for the rape of a 72 year old American woman in Portugal in 2005. He had been extradited from Portugal in 2017 and had been originally convicted of drug trafficking.

Here’s what was just said in a press conference:

In connection with the disappearance of the three-year-old British girl Madeleine McCann on May 3 2007 from an apartment complex in Praia da Luz, in Portugal, the Braunschweig prosecution is investigating against a 43-year-old German on suspicion of murder.

We are assuming that the girl is dead.

With the suspect, we are talking about a sexual predator who has already been convicted of crimes against little girls and he’s already serving a long sentence.

I mean I guess that’s promising, but I still find the timing of its release very suspicious. I doubt this breakthrough was made just yesterday, you know what I mean?

Fully expecting him to be cleared as a suspect in a couple of months as well, although given its 2020 maybe Madeleine herself will just show up at the end of it. Wouldn’t actually be that surprising considering.
