‘The Boys’ has been one of the great successes of Amazon Prime’s original television ventures, probably due to the fact that it’s the perfect antithesis to the oversaturated superhero market, presenting the superpower individuals as corrupt and morally bankrupt scumbags that need to be hunted down and made to pay for their messed up escapades by the titular ‘heroes’. It’s a lot of fun to turn the conventional narrative on its head.

The second season kinda ended with a lot of the plot threads wrapped up, but due to the massive popularity of the show on Prime, we’re obviously coming back for another rodeo. This time we’re going to see the introduction of a new superhero called Soldier Boy – played be Jensen Eckles – who is described as being ‘Homelander before Homelander’ which doesn’t sound too good for anyone involved.
Take a look at the trailer and see if you can guess which famous superhero Soldier Boy is based on:
Wow there’s a lot going on there isn’t there? I know you don’t really see much of him, but Solider Boy is clearly a riff on Captain America there isn’t he? And Homelander is going mad? It also looks kinda crazy that Butcher is going to take some pills that turn him into a superhero and the other Boys might be forced to stop him or something? Pretty good trailer to be honest as it’s got me very intrigued as to where it’s all going.
‘The Boys’ season three also looks like it’s going to be incredibly violent and gruesome once again which is obviously great news for anyone who was a fan of the first two seasons. Only got a couple of weeks to wait for it as well as it’s dropping on Junes 3rd. Can’t wait.
For more of the same, check out what we thought of Jared Leto’s ‘Morbius’ from earlier this year. Not quite as scathing as we usually are.
