For some reason, a 27-year-old woman named Laura Carson from Stockport thought that it would be a great idea to raise money for charity by getting nine babies and sticking them in a paddling pool filled to the brim with baked beans. Yeah, I don’t know where she got that idea from either.

Needless to say it was an absolute disaster for pretty much everyone who took part. Here’s what Laura had to say about the experience:
The babies were covered in sauce and we gave them a bath in the kitchen. But quite a few didn’t stay in long and started screaming and clawing to get out.
I don’t know where the idea came from, not all the group can walk and everyone does a sponsored toddle.
There was a lot of mess and we didn’t think about getting them out, which made even more mess.
There were beans everywhere and some dried ones, it took a long time to clear up and it was absolutely disgusting, the place stank.
One baby, called Archie, loved it though. He was happily playing in the beans and trying to eat them and stayed in for a good 15 minutes.
Archie sounds like a weird kid right – I think I would be with the other babies and absolutely terrified if someone threw me in a pool of baked beans. I mean I think I would be like that if someone did it to me now, but if I was a baby I would be even more confused and scared and probably start crying straight away. It’s kind of like being tortured.
It serves Laura right that the place stank and was a massive chore to clean up as well; she really should have thought about what the hell she was doing before she tried to put on an event like this. Not sure how she persuaded nine other parents that this was a good idea either.
The baked bean pool party did raise £300 for a charity called Jump Space, which offers a safe and fun environment for disabled children and young people which is cool, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the psychological damage that may have been done to these babies involved with the pool party. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how they turn out when they’re all grown up.
This dog swimming pool party looks way better.
