Figure 1 is an app that launched back in 2013 as a sort of visual reference guide for doctors to crowdsource diagnoses, advise each other or to simply share photos/stories with other doctors.

Naturally, the app soon began to attract non-doctors who just wanted to look at gross photos of people’s ailments, which inevitably led to a more easily-accesible Instagram account of the same name.
