It’s never nice to see anyone punched in the face and kicked in the head, but I guess it was only a matter of time before Just Stop Oil’s road-blocking shenanigans resulted in full-on violence from motorists just trying to go about their day as normal.
Protester Daniel Knorr, 21, was marching down Cromwell Road in South Kensington, west London, with his activist comrades and managed to cause a crash between a van and a silver Mercedes. The man driving the Mercedes got out, along with his pregnant wife, and then this happened:
In case you didn’t catch that, the man’s pregnant wife shouted: ‘This is what you’ve caused, I’m pregnant. You f**king idiots.’ Which is fair enough really. I don’t want to glorify violence even if a lot of people are saying it was fully deserved, but I can only imagine how angry this guy was after being forced into a car crash while his pregnant wife was in the passenger seat, all because these Just Stop Oil morons are blocking the road off.
Protester Daniel, a student from Oxford (of course), said:
‘I haven’t said anything to the police and I don’t plan to, but I’m afraid that the police might go after this man.
I feel no ill sentiment or ill will against him. It’s a difficult situation for anyone to be in and it’s bound to create frustration. I can tell from the fact that he’d just been in a car accident, he was very stressed.
Really, if the police spent more time going after the people at the top who got us in this mess- the people in government and at the top of these fossil fuel companies who are destroying the lives of future generations, as well as the media moguls who create this toxic media space, to keep us divided; instead of going after people like this man, I’d be much happier.
Then marching in the road wouldn’t even be necessary.’
Well, fair play to the lad for taking his whooping like a man and moving on. Here’s another view of the incident:
🥊 BREAKING: Just Stop Oil Supporter Assaulted While Demanding No New Oil and Gas
🦺 Daniel was assaulted while marching this morning, and remained nonviolent throughout. Disruption is difficult, but it’s necessary.
