Donald Trump’s new limited edition ‘Never Surrender’ trainers are going for up to $10,000 on eBay, and it looks like rapper Fat Joe has secured himself a pair despite being a vocal anti-Trumper and claiming to hate everything MAGA stands for.
Following some backlash from his fans, Fat Joe has defended his decision to own a pair of Trump ‘Never Surrender’ shoes, by explaining that he’s a sneaker collector and simply had to have them no matter what:

Well, I guess that’s a fair enough explanation. In a longer clip, Fat Joe brings up artists Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol and how people loved their art without necessarily considering their politics or private lives, and so his decision to own a pair of Trump trainers is no different:
“Why? If you really collect art, do you really know what Basquiat was into? Do you know what Andy Warhol was into? Any of these artists that you was into. You love the art, so you get it. I guess they separate art from the person.”
“Now, me as a sneaker collector. I had to get my hands on the Trumps. It doesn’t matter…Listen, I have thousands of pairs of sneakers. When everyone flipped on Kanye, I went and bought the two most exclusive Kanyes ever…I gotta get my hands on them. Once again, I’m not a Trumper. I dislike Trump. I’m not voting for him. Not now, not never. But I’m a sneaker collector into the art. So, I had to find these.”
At least the guy’s being honest. It’s actually refreshing to see someone ‘separate the art from the artist’ as he puts it. I mean, we can’t pretend like R Kelly didn’t have some absolute bangers, can we? We can’t allow the fact that Chris Benoit murdered is entire family in cold blood stop us from acknowledging him as one of the best wrestlers in history, right?
53-year-old Fat Joe obviously takes a lot of pride in being the king of sneaker heads. If that means he’s got to go out and buy a pair of Trump Never Surrenders to keep that title, then so be it. I just wonder whether he’s got the b@lls to actually wear them in public…
