Last week, United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson was gunned down in broad daylight in the middle of Manhattan on his way to an investor conference. This week, the NYPD arrested a 26-year-old “person of interest” named Luigi Mangione, who they apprehended in a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and have since charged with the murder.

Contrary to what everyone believed when the story first broke, Mangione isn’t a hired assassin or even your run-of-the-mill criminal. He spent four years as a valedictorian at Gilman school, a swanky all-boys prep academy where tuition costs a fortune. He then completed a combined BS and MS in computer science at the University of Pennsylvania in just four years. How does someone like that go from elite level education to assassinating a CEO with an untraceable DIY ghost gun?

Mangione’s manifesto was apparently just two pages long and didn’t make any direct threats, but rather just expressed disdain for corrupt and greedy corporate America.

There’s new info breaking on the guy all the time, and so we’re sharing this X thread below that someone helpfully compiled that lists everything we know about Luigi Mangione thus far…

So yeah, it sounds like Luigi Mangione had a LOT of beef with the healthcare industry, and decided to make a statement by murdering the CEO of UnitedHealthCare. Amazingly, many are hailing Mangione as a hero, as I guess it’s easy to forget that Brian Thompson had a family and friends, even if he was a greedy fatcat CEO who profited off other people’s pain and misery and whose AI program was denying 90% of insurance claims…

The ammo found at the scene of the shooting was labeled with phrases like “delay,” “deny,” and “depose,” a clear reference to his criticism of the health insurance industry. His getaway involved fleeing the area on a bicycle and disappearing into Central Park where he dumped the bike and then vanished from there.

Apparently what gave Luigi Mangione away to the police was CCTV footage of him pulling his mask down to flirt with a desk clerk at the hostel he was staying at. This resulted in a McDonald’s employee recognising him and calling the police, which led to his arrest. Pretty ironic that the anti-capitalist CEO killer got brought down thanks to a phone call by a minimum wage snitch working at McDonald’s!

Mangione is now sitting in jail while investigators piece together his 10-day excursion in Manhattan. In the meantime, I’m sure the media will be sharing every awkward and embarrassing photo they can dig up from his childhood until now. One thing’s for sure – it’s going to make a great Netflix documentary one day.
