I think the fact that the Eurovision song contest is being held in Liverpool this year is a pretty big deal for a lot of people in this country, as people that I’ve never even heard mention it before started talking to me about how we should go and how it’s always been their dream to attend.

Not sure how many of those people actually bothered trying to get tickets today, but from what I can tell from all the people complaining on Twitter it was an absolute shxtshow, even worse than similar recent attempts to get tickets to see Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Blink 182. I’m not sure if that’s really that surprising considering it’s a one off event that all the homosexuals in Europe are trying to get tickets for, but even so people were quick to berate Ticketmaster for being such a useless platform that’s seemingly always used by major companies for similar events and don’t seem to be able to stop bots picking up tickets either.
Here’s a few of the most heartbroken reactions:
Even though I know nothing about music composition, I’ve realised it’d be easier to write a song, get selected for the national final, win that, then win through the semi-final to get into the Grand Final, then buy tickets via Ticketmaster #Eurovision pic.twitter.com/M0TkLMuxHO

15 fucking thousand dollars for a #Eurovision resale ticket.
How is this more insane than Beyonce and Taylor Swift combined. pic.twitter.com/4l9hozlLRY

Anyone getting to the ticket stage and then being told they have sold out?
What’s the point of keeping the queue when the event has sold out? #Eurovision

Dear @TicketmasterUK, please have this code I created for you. It seems silly to make someone wait in a queue of 30,000+ when you already know there are no tickets left. And then offer them another queue when they hit the front. #Eurovision #Eurovision2023 #ticketmaster #soldout pic.twitter.com/biTGA3oV04

Really? @Ticketmaster I had to wait for 1 hour 30 minutes and I select the seats I want and then it says we couldn’t find any tickets for @Eurovision #eurovision #eurovisionnightmare #unhappy #unacceptable #ticketmaster
At least tell us all tickets are sold. Waste of the day. pic.twitter.com/NAep3KNPrg— Jason Bennett (@JB_TripReports) March 7, 2023

Yeah I think I’ll stand by my original statement that anyone who thought it was going to be easy to nab these tickets is extremely naive because there was no way it was going to be that simple to get a one fo 6000 tickets for a worldwide event, but even so it looks as though Ticketmaster have been predictably useless with their handling of the situation. How are they still allowed to look after such major events when everyone complains about them and they inevitably screw everything up? Seems completely ridiculous.
As for all the people who didn’t make it to Eurovision, I guess that’s a major bummer for them but I’ve heard that going and hanging out and watching it at the Eurovision Village on the big screens in the host city is a lot of fun as well. Kinda unrealistic expectations to get anywhere near a ticket for the grand final though. Always next year.
For more of the same, check out this Eurovision star who decided to smash up the stage in the heats. Bit much isn’t it?
