Estee Lauder senior executive John Demsey has been fired after posting this meme on his Instagram.
He was making nearly $10M a year.
He’s posted an apology saying he “didn’t read it before posting” pic.twitter.com/kCoIwN2n98

You would think a guy earning $10 million a year in a high-level position at Estee Lauder could come up with a better excuse than “I didn’t read it before sharing”, given he’s a 65-year-old skincare/makeup executive sharing one of the more obscure memes I’ve ever seen. I mean how in the world does that meme even come across his desk? He could have said he was hacked and everyone would believe it. Especially after one guy did his homework and found the origins of the meme:
Think I found the origin – some random Chingy subreddit that only has 107 members and the thread itself only had two comments! So I’m even more confused at how he ever came across this. 😂https://t.co/pRcpGUoHP9

Just some random meme from the Chingy subreddit. Yes, Chingy. The Right Thurr rapper from 2003. Um, is John Demsey a Chingy fan? Would a guy who makes $10 million a year really not read something like that before posting it? Again – this guy could’ve said he was hacked and nobody would have batted an eyelid. Instead he immediately apologised, gave some dumb excuse, and now he’s out of a job. Not great form if you ask me.
