England fans have been accused of making a seven-year-old boy drink “a whole beer in exchange for some coins” in the French town of Lille ahead of the England vs. Wales game today.

This Tweet was posted by a journalist named Michael Stothard from the Financial Times a few hours ago:
One user on Twitter asked if Michael had personally witnessed the incident. Michael responded:
I saw it, yes. He downed the bottle in five gulps to raucous cheers. Then was handed money. They gave him a cigarette too.

But he threw the cigarette on the ground and stamped it out. The fans looked disappointed.

This incident comes less than 24 hours after England fans were accused of “taunting begging children” in Lille by throwing money on the floor and making them pick it up.
Here’s a video of that:

A witness said:
These kids must have been no more than eight or nine. It was pretty bad taste.
Not a good look. Not a good look at all. England fans already have a pretty shit reputation abroad with hooliganism (despite not being very good at it this year), without adding ‘child refugee taunters’ to the CV. When media outlets everywhere are calling England fans the most disgraceful in Europe, it’s hard to argue with them with footage like this backing it up. Sort it out guys.
