‘House Of The Dragon’ Star Emma D’Arcy Makes GQ Men Of The Year List

Non-binary actress Emma D’Arcy has been included in GQ‘s new Men of the Year List alongside other 2022 breakouts like Joseph Quinn (Eddie Munson on Stranger Things) and Lee Jung-jae (Seong Gi-hun on Squid Game), following a standout performance as Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon.

Naturally, this has the internet baffled. Emma is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, so sticking her on a Men of the Year list seems to make little sense. When you look at the rest of GQ’s list, it starts to make even less sense:

Marisa Abela
Sheila Atim
Emma D’Arcy
Es Devlin
Leon Edwards
Mo Farah
Stephen Graham
Myha’la Herrold
Sharon Horgan
Michael Imperioli
David Jonsson
Lee Jung-jae
Harry Lawtey
Louis Theroux
Joseph Quinn
Ashley Walters
Ben Whishaw

As you can see, there are several women on this Men of the Year list. The hell is that about? Well, apparently GQ have been including non-men in their Men of the Year lists for some years now. Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Aniston and Megan Thee Stallion have all made the list in recent years, so Emma D’Arcy’s inclusion doesn’t seem to be that groundbreaking at all. I still don’t really understand it though. Is it really a Men of the Year list if it can include literally anyone from any gender no matter how they identify?

I guess that’s something GQ needs to explain to us. For now it seems they’ve just thrown all the rules out of the window! Maybe ‘Person of the Year’ would be a better shout if they’re going to insist on doing this, but then that wouldn’t outrage nearly as many people. Gotta get those hate clicks in, after all.

For the time Emma D’Arcy said ‘I really like playing women and I’m really good at it’, click HERE. Go figture.
