Having successfully assisted Donald Trump in becoming US President for the second time, it looks like Elon Musk now has his sights set on changing the political landscape in the UK – by ensuring that Nigel Farage wins the next election.

How’s he going to do this? Well, according go The Times, by donating $100m to Farage and his campaign, which Reform definitely won’t hilariously squander.

It’s no secret that Elon Musk absolutely hates Keir Starmer’s guts, taking a few digs at him on X/Twitter in the last few months. These include calling him Two-Tier Kier over claims that UK police treat some groups more strictly than others, and suggesting that Starmer was setting up detainment camps in the Falkland Islands for rioters (a claim he was later forced to retract).

Musk has also been endorsing Nigel Farage and Reform on X, most recently quoting a viral Tweet stating Reform will win the next election, and captioning it ‘Yes’.

Elon Musk appeared to endorse Nigel Farage's Reform Party with this post on his X platform - the two are known to be friends

On the weekend, Farage said he was unsure if Musk was planning to donate any money to Reform but confirmed the pair were in frequent contact and were good friends. He told The Times:

“All I can say is that I’m in touch with him and he is very supportive of my policy positions.

“We both share a friendship with Donald Trump and Trump has said good things about me in front of Musk. We’ve got a good relationship with him.”

Now, there are laws in place that would prevent political donations from foreign individuals to the UK, but of course, the rules are extremely open to abuse. Unincorporated corporations can donate without saying who their members are, and Musk could even donate through the British arm of X if he wanted to. Putin himself could donate to a UK political fund if he really wanted to! It’s the easiest thing in the world to find a loophole.

And so, this could be very bad news for Keir Starmer and also for the Tories as Reform looks set to take their spot as the main contender to Labour’s rule. I think we can all agree that the UK political scene needs a serious shake-up, but is Nigel Farage really the answer? Elon Musk seems to think so, and looks ready to bankroll the campaign that could make it happen. Wild few years ahead, that’s for sure…
