We all know Hollywood is filled to the brim with rapists, perverts and sexual deviants in general, with many actresses able to attest to that with their own personal anecdotes. Even transgender actors who used to be women like Elliot Page have a #MeToo story to tell.

The Oscar nominee detailed an incident in his upcoming memoir, Pageboy, which People has kindly published excerpts from. Page reveals that a famous actor threatened to rape him in order to convince him he wasn’t gay.

Page writes that the incident occurred at a birthday party in Los Angeles in 2014 after he (or she, at the time) came out as gay, and before his transition in 2020:

“You aren’t gay. That doesn’t exist. You are just afraid of men,” Page recalls being told in a chapter titled ‘Famous Asshole At Party’.

Page says the threat became more direct with the actor saying: “I’m going to f*** you to make you realise you aren’t gay.”

When they ran into each other at a gym a few days later, the unnamed actor insisted he didn’t “have a problem” with gay people. Page told him, “I think you might”.

Page added: “I’ve had some version of that happen many times throughout my life. A lot of queer and trans people deal with it incessantly. These moments that we often, like, don’t talk about or we’re supposed to just brush off, when actually it’s very awful.”

So who is the creepy actor in the question? Brad Pitt? James Franco? Michael Cera? Could be anyone really. Page told People that he chose not to name the celebrity, but insisted several people were present at the party when the incident occurred, and that the person will know “it’s him” when he hears about the book (or, rather, when he reads about it in these articles before the book even comes out).

Rather than wanting to expose the actor, Page said he included the story in the book to highlight “the reality, the s*** we deal with and what gets sent to us constantly, particularly in environments that are predominantly cis and heterosexual”.

Pretty nice of her to keep this famous actor’s identity private, especially as this sounds like the sort of thing cancel culture dreams are made of. Maybe he’ll reach out and apologise?
