A while back there were non-stop stories coming out about Ellen DeGeneres being a total d1ck to her staff, which resulted in her losing tons of viewers and advertisers until he show was inevitably cancelled completely.

A couple years on, Ellen returned to stand-up and began making light of the whole situation. Which she may as well have done from the start seeing as all her apologising didn’t do her any favours. But even still, audiences kept giving her grief because some of the stories that came out about her were just that bad, like the time she ‘manipulated’ a 12-year-old and ruined his life.

Well, it now seems that Ellen has had enough of the abuse, and revealed during a Q&A recently that she’ll be quitting Hollywood for good after she films her Netflix special (which she’s currently performing on her final stand-up tour).

Asked whether she would be returning to making movies after her tour, Ellen responded:

“Um, no. This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”

When asked if she would be returning to her role as Dory from Pixar’s Finding Nemo and Finding Dory she said:

“No, I’m going bye-bye, remember.”

Of course, Ellen has been addressing the whole situation during her stand-up tour, and it seems she still sees herself as the victim:

“What else can I tell you? Oh yeah, I got kicked out of show business. There’s no mean people in show business. The hate went on for a long time and I would try to avoid looking at the news. The ‘be kind’ girl wasn’t kind. That was the headline. I became this one-dimensional character who gave stuff away and danced up steps … Would a mean person dance up steps? Had I ended my show by saying, ‘Go f*** yourself,’ people would’ve been pleasantly surprised.”

Poor Ellen. Just hanging out at her $50 million mansion, counting her millions, and trying to avoid watching the news where everyone is calling her the biggest bully in Hollywood. Could be worse, if you think about it.

In the end, maybe she should have just embraced her new role as the villain instead of cowering and hiding and apologising as more and more stories came out. She basically acknowledged it herself on stage – she’s mean, old and gay (via TMZ):

Ellen also made this crack at one point, saying this was actually the second time she’d been kicked out of showbiz — referring to the backlash she got in the ’90s when she came out — and added there’d be a third time eventually because “I’m mean, old, and gay.”

She’s also acknowledged how she’s really sad about how her show got cancelled, which probably isn’t as sad as how she made all her staff members feel when she was openly degrading and bullying them, sacking them for going to funerals, and making them ‘cry like little babies‘.

DeGeneres’s tour will continue until August 17, at which point we will – supposedly – never see her again. I guess we’ll see about that…
