Bad news for Jake Paul – his motion to have Eddie Hearn’s lawsuit against him dismissed has been denied by a judge in New York, and he’s now been given an October 16 court date as Hearn sues him for defamation to the tune of over $100 million.

Hearn is seeking damages in excess of $100million after Jake accused Matchroom of paying judge Glenn Feldman in 2022.

Hearn was accused of paying Glen Feldman to score bouts in favour of Katie Taylor against Amanda Serrano and Anthony Joshua in his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk. Serrano was in the MVP (Most Valuable Promotions) team, which Jake Paul co-founded in 2021.

With Paul’s motion to dismiss the case denied, he now has no choice but to face Eddie Hearn in court on October 16. Which is just one month before the 27-year-old takes on 58-year-old Mike Tyson on November 15.

Can you imagine if Eddie Hearn manages to bankrupt Jake Paul, and then Mike Tyson puts the cherry on top by KO’ing him into oblivion on November 15? I’m sure that’s something a lot of people would like to see, as it would almost certainly spell the end for Jake Paul’s boxing career. He’d have to go back to making videos on YouTube, or maybe join his brother Logan over in WWE?

Have to say though, $100 million does seem like a ricidulous amount to be asking for over a comment that I don’t even think a lot of people were aware that Jake Paul made? We certainly weren’t, and who cares anyway? No one in boxing takes his opinion seriously.

Besides, is Matchroom even worth $100 million?

In any case, Jake Paul will probably settle out of court for a much smaller amount rather than have this drag on and impair his preparation for the Mike Tyson fight. Come to think of it, he’ll probably make his money back off that fight alone, whether he wins or loses. Alright for some, eh?
