Is there anyone on planet Earth who hates Phillip Schofield more than Eamonn Holmes? I doubt it, and that’s probably why he hasn’t stopped taking digs at the disgraced presenter ever since news of his affair with a much younger man went from ITV secret to mainstream news.
Now, in an interview on GB News with Dan Wootton, Holmes claims Schofield ‘created an atmosphere where people hated him. People would avoid him in the corridor. He didn’t look at anybody, didn’t know anybody’s name.’
He labeled his former pal a ‘narcissist’ and said he was giving the interview on behalf of all the people at ITV ‘who were gagged’ from speaking about it.
‘I didn’t know anything. I heard rumours. Who were you going to go to with these rumours? Everyone was team Phillip and Holly.’
He claims the young runner, Matthew, was ‘promoted’ out of nowhere without being asked when he was moved to Loose Women from This Morning. Holmes says the ‘unprecedented move’ should be investigated, particularly ‘who authorised it.’
Wootton claimed the lad was ‘a non-negotiable part’ of Phil’s team, and Holmes claimed the runner would arrive via taxi from Schofield’s home on Friday mornings after they went out on Thursday nights. Yikes:
‘I didn’t know, but I’ve subsequently found out – from a very, very good source, because he would arrive much earlier in the morning than I would for the programme – that he was delivered from Phillip’s London home.
Usually on a Friday morning, because Thursday was playtime when he and Phillip would hit the town and then he obviously stayed overnight.
There are records to show that he was brought in the next day separately in cars paid for by ITV.’
Holmes went on to claim the young man was ‘in a bad way’ and he and his wife Ruth Langsford kept an eye on him, but he ‘never admitted’ any sort of relationship with Schofield but would ‘phone often’ for ‘comfort’.
‘We never intruded, we just asked if he was okay, and we were here if he needed support. He felt alone and no one was looking after him. But there was press pressure on him.’
Holmes then read out a message from someone who used to work at ITV, saying they were made to sign a non-disclosure agreement after leaving the company with a payout.
So did anyone at ITV actually know what was going on, or what? According to Holmes, there was an ‘overriding, more than suspicion’ on what was happening, and accused ITV of a ‘total cover-up’. ITV recently put out a statement claiming they ‘thoroughly investigated’ the situation when rumours began doing the rounds in 2020, but Holmes claims this ‘thorough investigation’ simply involved simply asking both men if they were in a relationship, which they denied.
Holmes also took a few personal digs at Schofield, claiming people ‘don’t rate him’ as ‘he can’t read the autocue… he shouts when he speaks, he’s rude to everyone around him.’
He went on to say:
‘If I’m guilty of anything it’s for speaking up for all those researchers you ignored, all those producers you treated like dirt, all those people texting and phoning me saying… we feel now empowered to speak out. You let your fame and power corrupt you and that’s where we’re at today.’
He also questioned why Schofield suddenly confessed to lying about the affair and suggested there could be more damning news about Schofield to follow. He also reckons Holly Willoughby won’t ever return to This Morning, and that she’s basically a b**ch as well.
Interestingly, Dan Wootton himself claimed during the interview that he left ITV after being told ‘he would be pulled off air if The Sun kept writing stories’ about Schofield, as he worked at the paper at the time.
The next part of the interview airs on GB News tonight (Tuesday 30th May). Schofield must be stressing…
