The Eagles Of Death Metal have returned to Paris to finish their show at the Bataclan theatre this week, and frontman Jesse Hughes was interviewed by French television in the run up to it. In the segment, he came up with the controversial idea that lives would have been saved if the French fans in the venue had been allowed to take guns in:

I think the only thing that stopped [the attack] was some of the bravest men that I’ve ever seen in my life charging head first into the face of death with their firearms…

I know people will disagree with me… but that night guns made them equal.

And I hate it that it’s that way…

Until nobody has guns everybody has to have them.

I’m a member of the NRA in America and I don’t go anywhere without a gun anymore.

That sucks. And I’m not paranoid.

I’m not a cowboy… but I want to be prepared.

Well, the sad thing about that statement – like he says – is that he’s probably right and it does completely suck. I mean it’s not like he’s saying that he wants people to have guns, but unfortunately when there is the threat of terrorist attacks then it might be an idea to find some way to protect yourself.

Although I’m normally against gun ownership, I can’t really blame the dude for wanting to protect himself after a bunch of terrorists showed up at a gig he was playing and killed a bunch of people and he was lucky to get out alive. It just completely sucks that that’s the world we live in right now. Unfortunately, I can’t see it changing any time soon either.
