If you’re going for the world record for most push-ups in one hour, surely the standard has to be chest touching ground with your elbows fully locked out.

Which is why the fitness world is fuming that 33-year-old Aussie accountant Lucas Helmke has been awarded the Guinness World Record for his attempt, which saw him bust out 53 ‘push-ups’ a minute x 60 non-stop, totaling 3,206 at the end:

So did Lucas actually do any push-ups at all, or just 3,206 elbow bends? Apparently he trained for three years to break the record so I can just imagine how annoying it is for him to see out of shape bloggers like me question his achievements, but I literally cannot find one comment that accepts he is doing push-ups in that video. Even verified fitness bros/pro athletes are going in on him:

Well, I guess even doing that many fake push-ups in an hour is impressive, but it’s still a bit irksome. In any case, the only opinion that matters is that of Guinness and they don’t seem to have any problem with it. Clearly the rules they set aren’t quite the same as those of our PTs. Credit where it’s due – very few people could come close to that effort.
