Sorry to bring you such a macabre video so early on a Monday morning, but over the weekend, while the world was freaking over Donald Trump’s strict new border laws, a man was mauled to death in front of his wife and child after he climbed into a tiger enclosure.

The tragic event unfolded at Ningbo Younger Zoo in east China while the cats were feeding. In an hour long effort to rescue the man, zoo keepers attempted to scare the tigers off with firecrackers and water cannons. One of the tigers was even shot and killed during the attack, but sadly it did not prevent the rest from attacking the man. One witness said:
I saw the tiger mauling the person, whose face was covered with blood. Every time he sat up, the tiger pushed him down again.

A couple of things are bothering me about this story. Firstly, reports state that the man jumped into the enclosure in the early afternoon, but there’s no explanation as to why. It’s hard to have any sympathy for a man who would willingly do this, particularly while his wife and kid were there. Also, this is the second attack to have happened in the last six months, so why were the zoo keepers not stood by with tranquiliser guns? They should have been shooting those animals and putting them to sleep as soon as the attack started. Crazy fools. Either way, RIP to the man and thoughts go out to his family.
