A couple of months ago, we posted an article about a 100 mile long, 200 metre wide Mega City that was being constructed over in Saudi Arabia that was called ‘The Line’ and due to house 9 million people, but many people didn’t think it would actually get built because it sounded like something more suited for ‘The Fifth Element’ or ‘Demolition Man’ rather than real life.

Turns out everyone who thought that was completely wrong though because the company behind The Line have already started constructing the Mega City. Some aerial photography organisation called Ot Sky have decided to throw some drones over the site and there are already a load of people working there, digging a really wide trench that’s going to eventually be 100 miles long and serve as the foundations for the city.
Check out the crazy footage below:
Yeah I just don’t know what to make of that. I suppose that the first time something like this happens it’s gonna be debated a lot but it might turn out to be really awesome? And there might be a bunch more of them built and it might become our new way of life?
To be honest though it sounds much more likely that it will be a complete and utter disaster. Who are these 9 million people that are going to live there? What the hell is it going to be like living in a giant metal box for the rest of your life or whatever? Where is all the food gonna come from?
This is before you even think about how long it takes to construct this place. I have absolutely no idea of the time span it will take to build ‘The Line’ but you can bet that it isn’t gonna be open any time soon. Definitely one to keep an eye on in the future because it really is something else isn’t it? Very interested to see how it all pans out.
For more of the same, check out Akon – who is also building his own super city in Senegal that will be powered by his own cryptocurrency. Can’t see anything going wrong there either.
