In what might’ve been the most painfully awkward moment in TV history, Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu brought Jeremy Vine to a halt this morning until host Dawn Neeson managed to pronounce her name correctly.
You can tell she’s had this problem before:

Blimey! I do understand Dr Shola’s frustration though; as a TV presenter, Dawn Neeson really should’ve figured out the pronunciation before they went on air, rather than try to wing it on live TV. It’s just the professional/respectful thing to do.
Plus it’s not even that hard to pronounce, especially when you’re reminded to say it phonetically. Neeson did try to laugh the whole thing off on Twitter afterwards:
😂

But was then predictably roasted:
And you’re laughing at what exactly ? Your unprofessional and embarrassing behaviour i take it ?

Instead of laughing at this, do your job first so she doesn’t have to show you how.

Bloody hell it’s not even a trick question – it’s phonetic. If I put ‘Mos-Shogbamimu’ in front of my five-year-old he would look all worried for a second, I would tell him to break it down, and he’d get it right.

Seriously unprofessional.
Most broadcasters would be mortified at that, and it’s qwhite telling that you find it funny. How disrespectful.— Leila (@LeilaKtan) May 10, 2023
Oh well, at least she won’t make the same mistake next time. You live and you learn.
