The cult classic movie ‘Donnie Darko’ is coming back to UK cinemas for the film’s 15th anniversary. And it’s got a brand new 4K restoration, meaning we can now enjoy the movie in ultra high definition.

Arrow Films announced that a special exclusive screening at the British Film Institute will kick start the event on December 16th, before the movie gets a nationwide release on December 23rd. And they’re even making the Director’s cut available too.
The re-release comes after the movie made its debut 15 years previous in 2001 and it’s also the 25th anniversary for movie distributor Arrow Films. I don’t know about you, but that makes me feel very old – I vividly remember watching the movie when it first came out, back when I, like Donnie, was an angry teenager. How times have changed.
If any of you have somehow managed to avoid watching ‘Donnie Darko’ then you should use this opportunity to finally get round to it. Here’s the synopsis:
Donnie Darko, directed by Richard Kelly, stars Jake Gyllenhaal as troubled high school student Donnie. Donnie is prone to sleepwalking and has an imaginary friend called Frank, a six-foot tall rabbit. Frank tells Donnie that world is going to end in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds, in which time Donnie has to avoid death from a falling jet engine, maintain the space-time continuum and deal with teenage angst.
