2020 has been an absolutely crazy year, but maybe the craziest news I’ve heard so far is that Donald Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The nomination comes courtesy of Norwegian right wing politician Christian Tybring-Gjedde, who said the following about Trump’s performance as President:

For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees, with the historic peace agreement between Israel and the UAE his greatest achievement.
As it is expected other Middle Eastern countries will follow in the footsteps of the UAE, this agreement could be a game changer that will turn the Middle East into a region of cooperation and prosperity.
The president has played a key role in facilitating contact between conflicting parties and creating new dynamics in other protracted conflicts, such as the Kashmir border dispute between India and Pakistan, and the conflict between North and South Korea, as well as dealing with the nuclear capabilities of North Korea.
He has also withdrawn many troops from the Middle East.
Indeed, Trump has broken a 39-year-old streak of American Presidents either starting a war or bringing the United States into an international armed conflict.
The last president to avoid doing so was Peace Prize laureate Jimmy Carter.
I guess when he puts it like that Trump probably is the stand out candidate, although I would question just how much of what he’s saying there Trump has actually done during his Presidency as we never really hear about any of it, just how he’s generally being an idiot all the time and screwing everything up. Maybe that’s the mainstream media’s fault though and he’s actually doing a great job? What a headfuck that would be?
Probably more likely that this Tybring-Gjedde character is just sucking up to him though because he wants a trade deal or something.
In any case, it seems unlikely that he’ll actually end up winning the Nobel Peace Prize as there are already 318 candidates for it and there are still another six months to get nominations in. Surely Trump can’t end up blagging this as well?
