President Donald Trump has Tweeted to say that he and First Lady Melania have tested positive for coronavirus, with 2020 pulling out all the plot twists as we head into the US Presidential election next month.

Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!

Trump is 74 and also meets the technical threshold for obesity, putting him at higher risk of serious complications from the virus.
A statement from the White House doctor said both the president and first lady are ‘well at this time’ but did not say if either have symptoms.
Melania, 50, also Tweeted to assure she and Donnie and feeling fine:
As too many Americans have done this year, @potus & I are quarantining at home after testing positive for COVID-19. We are feeling good & I have postponed all upcoming engagements. Please be sure you are staying safe & we will all get through this together.

The positive test means Trump will have to scrap Friday’s plans for a fundraiser at his Washington, D.C., hotel and a political rally in Sanford, Florida. It could also mean no more debates between him and Joe Biden – with the next one scheduled for October 15. Or maybe they’ll just do it on Zoom and have it turn out to be a bigger shit-show than the first debate.
With Trump and the White House constantly downplaying the threat of COVID-19 and even taking the piss out of Joe Biden for wearing a mask the other night, it is pretty damn ironic to now see the President has the virus. Not that it’ll make the families and friends of the 200,000+ Americans killed by the virus thus far feel better.
Here’s some of the reaction to Trump’s diagnosis online – including well wishes, conspiracy theories and flat out celebrations:
Not sure I even believe you tested positive. You lie so much I don’t believe anything that comes out of your mouth. If you do have it all I can say is it’s about time it home. Now it will be a terrible thing instead of something that doesn’t harm hardly anyone. Karma

This is the greatest thing you’ve ever tweeted. We know you won’t die cause of ya know money. But a lot of us are hoping ya do.

I want you to know good people are disgusted by the evil comments from deranged people wishing death on you and your wife during this hard time. I fully support your recovery and all you need to do, to protect your family from these ugly haters. #TrumpHasCovid

Don’t worry, Mr. President. Remember that:
1. “It’s like the flu”
2. “It’s going to disappear”
3. “We have it totally under control”
4. “Maybe you can stick a powerful light in the body”
5. “I wanted to always play it down”
6. “It affects virtually nobody”— Baddi (@BaddiXD) October 2, 2020
I don’t know how this happened, but it is literally the only way that Biden could’ve gotten out of the remaining debates without looking weak. That’s all I’m saying

Am I clinically insane or did he do this to avoid the debate?

Our President was able to destroy Joe Biden in that debate while having COVID. The man is a machine. Praying for you, @realDonaldTrump! #TrumpHasCovid

so Trump made fun of Joe Biden for constantly wearing a mask in public only for him to get corona? the jokes write themselves

Already seeing a lot of vile comments from the left wishing death on the President & his wife. You all have lost your humility & have become the very thing you pretend to be against; HATE in its purest form
— Melissa Tate (@TheRightMelissa) October 2, 2020
Hang on, wait! We know Trump is a pathological liar. And he is losing badly in the election. Is this all a hoax to avoid having to participate in any future debates with Biden & to drum up some public sympathy? His campaign really is spiraling so don’t rule out anything!
— MURRAY 🇺🇸🗽 (@murray_nyc) October 2, 2020
You caused this.
You and you alone.
You could have stopped it.
You could have saved so many lives.
And if you’re looking for sympathy now, you’re def not getting it from me.
So much for a hoax, hmm?

About what you’d expect really. Question now is did Trump pass the virus to Joe Biden while he was yelling at him at the debates the other night? Well let’s hope not because no matter what your political leanings are, it is pretty shitty to wish death and illness on someone, even someone like Donald Trump who has cocked up the coronavirus response completely.
We all saw what happened with Boris ending up in the ICU so we’ll have to wait and see whether the virus has that bad an effect on Trump too. Not ruling out the possibility this is Fake News from Trump and part of some kind of plan he’s cooked up, but I guess we’ll have to see what happens. I remember back in March people were so sure Trump was gonna get COVID and so it’s pretty fitting that it happens now in the spooky month of October. 2020 just keeps on bringing the hits.
