Lagos customs chief Haruna Mamudu said the fake rice was intended to be sold in markets during the festive season.
He said the rice was “very sticky” after it was boiled and “only God knows what would have happened” if people ate it.
It’s unclear where the seized bags came from but rice made from plastic pellets was also found in China last year.

Absolutely terrifying that there are people out there producing fake rice and trying to pass it off as the real thing. Isn’t rice one of the cheapest foods out there? What a total low-level scumbag move to manufacture even cheaper, fake versions of it. And on Christmas no less!
Well anyway, let’s all do our bit and keep an eye out for fake rice. Clearly there’s some evil motherfuckers out there trying to make you eat it.
