I don’t think I can really add anything to the discourse going around about how Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak have both repeatedly lied to the public about attending parties during lockdown to the extent that they’ve both now been found guilty of breaking the law and fined accordingly, but here’s a thread from a doctor that I found on Twitter that sums it up better than I ever could. It’s a bit of a tearjerker.

Very little in the way of comorbidity, he was being ventilated, COVID, face down, oxygen saturations terrible, lungs stiff like wood. The regional ECMO centre felt nothing they could offer that would help. There was nothing left I could try either.
He was obviously dying.

not good news. He’s dying, we can’t stop it. Can we organise for you to visit?”
She just sobbed. And sobbed. And sobbed.
She was an Emergency Department sister herself. Working through the pandemic.
Her mum had just died of COVID the morning previously.
Her Dad was dying at

And I moved on to look at the next person dying. Unable to stop it happening.
It was unrelenting.
I went home. I wanted the company of friends. The blissful ignorance of stupid drinks in a pub.
But we couldn’t. So we didn’t.
I slept, and came back to run the loop again.

What a betrayal.
What venal, dismissive, entitled, arrogance.
All animals equal, but some laughing at their own special trough that wasn’t available for us routine pigs.

They do not deserve to even stand side by side with us who followed their rules.
Let alone lead us.
It’s time for a swift, aggressively thorough, clean out of the sleaze that somehow hoodwinked us into tossing their crumbs from the table.
I want a change.
Now.

Geez. I suppose some people will claim this is a bot or a fictional story or something, but there’s enough pictures and stories like these doing the rounds on the internet that I think it’s all true to be honest. Take a look at a few of these and make your own mind up:
I mean, does anyone really think we would clamber out of PPE and go and knock one back in the staff room?
We didn’t even have access to water most of the second wave. https://t.co/CDjuOHX3Vr

No, Mr Fabricant
We did not party
We did not meet
We stopped having coffee together as we feared we could all go down together leaving noone to look after our patients
We stuck to the letter & the spirit of the law because people were sick & dying from an infectious disease— Dr Helen Salisbury (@HelenRSalisbury) April 12, 2022
I saw staff crying
I saw staff terrified
I saw staff asking how to look after their hands that were literally red raw
I saw redeployed consultants sleeping on office floors
I saw the very best of a lot of people
None of them were having a fucking drink at work 🖕 https://t.co/Rqr1bw3LGw

Meanwhile again today operations are being cancelled because staff are off sick. Wards are understaffed, leading to greater risk of mistakes, stress for staff, and reduced quality of care. Appointments are being postponed.
Covid really isn’t over, even if all the pubs *are* open.— Tom Dolphin 🏳️⚧️ (@thomasdolphin) April 13, 2022
Depressing. Of course, Boris Johnson won’t resign over this one, but it is worth remembering that there are six other parties that he’s accused of attending that haven’t been investigated yet. However, I wouldn’t drum up too much hope because I doubt that he’ll resign even if a picture of him downing a bottle of champagne with his shirt off and his tie around his head on New Year’s Eve comes out. Guy just doesn’t give a fuck.
