It seems like an awful long time ago now – when Coronavirus hadn’t completely taken over our lives – but earlier on this year, Tyson Fury completely dominated Deontay Wilder during their title fight and sealed the ending to a remarkable comeback story.

Ever since the bout Deontay Wilder has been begging for a rematch but Fury and most of the boxing fans out there aren’t really that interested in that happening because of the way that Wilder was so badly beaten during the fight. Fury looks like he’s building up to a fight against Anthony Joshua next year, but this hasn’t stopped Wilder trying to do everything he can to be granted a rematch and this has now taken the form of quite a bizarre video where he has accused Fury of cheating during their last fight by wearing ‘loaded gloves’. This is before we even get into the weird location of the video and where it’s been shot.
Take a look below and see what you think:
When you were going through your darkest time, I told you that if you got yourself together I would give you a title shot. Being a man of my word, I gave you the title shot…

In the rematch agreement, there was a rematch clause. Now it is time for you to be a man and honor your word, instead of trying to weasel out of our agreement. Scared people run but a scary man will break his contract you coward Azz B**čh!#BombZquad#TilThisDay

Is it just me or is that a really strange way for him to go about trying to get a rematch? I know that boxing and combat sports are all about trash talking and saying how much of a badass you are and how you’re gonna kick someone else’s butt, but I don’t think accusing the other guy of cheating when he beat you is going to get you in his good graces and actually make him want to fight you again. Seems like a completely unproductive way to go about it.
For what it’s worth as well, Fury came out back in July and spoke about this conspiracy theory as well, moving quickly to deny it and pretty much expose it as absolute bollocks:
This is just a quick video to address all this foul play talk from Wilder and his team. I’ve just read an article before saying that I might’ve had some blunt objects in my gloves, yeah, two big 19 stone 7, 275lbs destroyers in each glove.
So yeah, getting punched up the temple may do that to ya. Not unless Wilder’s one trainer Jay Deas was in on the conspiracy as well, along with the Las Vegas State Commission guys who never left the room.”
Jay Deas was in the room when I had my hands wrapped, he examined them, he was in there when I had my gloves put on, examined them and everyone else was in the room.
Yep, doesn’t really seem like this idea is going anywhere at all and Wilder really is grasping at straws with it. Back to the drawing board son.
