Deftones singer Chino Moreno is all set to become the world’s first musician to perform inside an actual volcano. And as if that wasn’t exclusive enough, the show, which coincides with this weekend’s Secret Solstice Festival in Iceland, will only be performed to a tiny audience of 20 fans. Lucky them.

Both Moreno and the audience will be lowered 400 feet inside Thrihnuagigur volcano. Although this might seem a little mad and dangerous, the organisers of the concert have assured that the volcano hasn’t erupted in 4,000 years. Hmmm, so if it hasn’t erupted in so long, maybe it’s well overdue one? Now THAT would be bad luck.

The Secret Solstice Festival goes down from June 16th to 19th, with a diverse line up including Radiohead, Action Bronson, Of Monsters and Men, Die Antwoord, Flatbush Zombies and Róisín Murphy. And Deftones of course.
I reckon this volcano performance could upstage all of them to be honest – hopefully someone gets some footage because it would be awesome to see how it looks and how the walls of the volcano affect the sound of the performance.
