DeadMau5 AKA Joel Zimmerman has never been one to mince his words, but his latest Twitter rant might surprise some people as he’s revealed that he doesn’t even like his last record, the recently released (and imaginatively titled) W:/2016ALBUM/.

When replying to a bunch of tweets asking him about his eighth album, DeadMau5 had the following replies which build up a narrative of him basically being forced to release it in order to make some money. Damn these artists have it hard huh?
tbh, i wasnt even going to put it out. i used to just play it with the dome setup thing, and someone pushed me into putting it on. so i did. https://t.co/qiKTmoySL1

this is seriously a love/hate thing happening here. But, a thing, nonetheless. and it's good to be doing things.

Well, there you have it. The sad tale of an artist being forced to put something out that he doesn’t even like in order to pay his bills. What a sad existence, although it doesn’t sound like Joel is that poor considering his response to being listed on the Forbes 2012 rich list having earned $20million that year:
Yo! Where’s the other 10?’ Sure, we’ve seen $20m in the past two years, but that’s gone back into the studio, into tours – they cost up to $10m alone. It’s money in, money out for all of us, but the list makes us look like a bunch of overpaid dicks.
I mean there’s still another $10million just lying around there dude? You can probably live off some of that for a couple of months whilst you make that record that you actually like. Or maybe the fact you just released this one – which should help you out with some of your debts – will give you some time to work on music for yourself? Hoping you can find that inner happiness now man.
