Now I’m not about to go in and start slating David Bowie because that man was one of the most important figures for music and culture of our time. He was always so on the ball — check out the time he called out MTV for refusing to play black artists. What a legend – god rest his soul.

But seriously though, what was he on about when he said that Lorde was ‘the future of music’. I almost don’t want to believe that he said that but according to his longtime pianist Mike Garson, he absolutely loved her hence why she was one of the people who was chosen to perform as part of the Bowie tribute act at this year’s Brit Awards. Mike said:

David really liked Lorde, and he felt like she was the future of music, and they had a few wonderful moments together.

Speaking about the Brit Awards performance, he said:

She was the perfect choice.

Some of David’s family members and David’s management had some suggestions she’d be the right one. They wanted to bring the next generation in.

Erm, OK. I mean, I can understand how Bowie would want to ‘bring the next generation in’ and get young people excited about music and stuff, but is Lorde really the one to do it? Her music literally sounds all the other manufactured stuff that comes out of the charts.

Got to say, this was probably the one and only fault that Bowie ever had in his lifetime. But let’s just forget about it and consider it a glitch because most of the time he was completely on point, like when he perfectly predicted the internet’s impact on music and society over 15 years ago.
