A woman has been jailed for life after murdering both her parents and living with their bodies in the family home for 4 years, all because she thought they were about to expose the £170,000 credit card fraud she had carried out in their names.

Virginia McCullough, 36, poisoned her dad John, 70, with prescription medication, before stabbing her mum Lois, 71, in the chest at their home in Chelmsford, Essex. Here’s the footage of police breaking into her home and arresting her:

“Cheer up, at least you’ve caught the bad guy” – jeez, how creepy is that? Her calm demeanour and self-awareness is absolutely terrifying, although I guess the reason she’s so calm is that she’s been expecting this day for 4 years. She probably played out her arrest in her head a million times over those 4 years; what she’d say to the officers, if she should hide the bodies, if she should run etc. In the end, she may have even felt a sense of relief when they turned up and arrested her. In a ‘finally, it’s over’ sort of way.

What’s interesting is that her siblings didn’t have one conversation with their parents over those 4 years without raising the alarm and yet have released statements saying how much their parents loved their granddkids and whatnot. Not really sure how that makes sense. In fact it was the family GP who raised concern when two 70+ year olds kept missing checkups. For the GP to notice before the family, something must have been seriously amiss with the family dynamics.

In any case, RIP John & Lois. Based on the arrest footage and details around the case, I wouldn’t be shocked if the Virginia McCullough story is on Netflix by this time next year.
