A driver who had sent his car for a routine service was left absolutely horrified after checking his dashcam and witnessing a garage worker urinating all over the front of his Mercedes.
Michael Hinsley, from Broseley in Shropshire, pays £41 per month as part of a plan at the dealership which includes an annual service on his £30,000 Mercedes A35.
He was initially very pleased with the results, but upon watching the dashcam, saw the worker urinating on his vehicle. Here’s the footage:
The dealership has since apologised – but Michael says this isn’t good enough:
‘I was absolutely horrified to see what the guy had done, to urinate on my car – I simply couldn’t believe it.
‘I came across this clip of a guy putting my car through a car wash. I was horrified as they were using a car wash rather than a mechanical-type wash but what happened next was way more shocking.
‘All of a sudden, I could see what he was doing, and I was absolutely horrified.
‘I just couldn’t believe someone could do this.’
Michael immediately contacted the dealership and sent over the footage. They reassured him it would be investigated, and ended up sacking the worker and issuing Michael an apology. Michael seemed OK with this for about a month (the incident took place in December), but after ruminating on the situation got back in touch with the dealership in January to complain some more:
‘They told me they had identified the employee responsible and that he was no longer working there – they said all they could do was apologise.’
‘I’m disgusted with how they’re treating me and the whole situation.
‘The valeting area is on their premises and gated-they are still responsible for what happens there.
‘[My car is] a big investment, and I trusted them with it.’
The dealership then offered Michael another apology and £250 in compensation, but he’s refusing to accept it:
‘This isn’t just about the damage done – it’s about the principle. They need to take accountability.’
Well, sounds like they did take accountability as they apologised and offered him £250 in compensation – so I’m not sure what else this guy wants? They also sacked the urinator, who was a contractor and not a direct employee of the dealership, so I don’t know what else they’re supposed to do. Perhaps he’s the customer from hell, and that’s why the worker urinated all over his car? I mean, what does this guy want, a new Mercedes or something?
Well anyway, good job the worker didn’t coil one down inside his car too. Every cloud and all that.
