An Explosive Trial
The Darwin Awards don’t just celebrate those that have gone the whole hog and fully extinguished their lives, they also celebrate those that have got pretty darned near to destroying themselves. This next story is one such “at-risk survivor” tales.
In Pakistan in 2002 a man was on trial for having been in possession of a hand grenade. Fair enough, you shouldn’t really own things like that. They’re dangerous, that’s a fact.
The man on trial challenged them to produce the item, which they did. He then argued that it was just a replica. The judge was handling the explosive device absent-mindedly as he listened to the arguments from both sides. As he fiddled about he pulled the pin out of the grenade. It turns out it was a real grenade. Somehow the judge managed to escape with his life but I doubt he’ll touch another grenade any time soon.
