Hippo Hilarity
Next up is another at-risk survivor story, this time from the Ukraine in 2001. Everyone knows that hippos kill more people than lions. It’s common knowledge. We also know that in a zoo the fences are there for a reason, animals are unpredictable. But this Ukrainian lady didn’t have the good sense that most people have, she decided to go for a dip with the hippo.
The hippo, who had young children around, decided to maul the woman. She was saved in the nick of time by zoo keepers who were nearly as irate as the hippo. The woman wasn’t killed but the hospital said she was in a “serious” condition.
The zoo keepers were interviewed after the event and weren’t in the least bit surprised. They said that this type of thing was pretty common. Utter madness.
