4) Gustave Doré
Gustave Doré (1832-1833) was born in Strasbourg. He was a trouble maker as a chid but developed some amazing skills. He began sculpting at 11 and was employed by a French paper as a caricature artist at the tender age of 15. He got the job of drawing the visions of hell for Dante’s Divine Comedy among other classic works.
