Well, Danny Boyle sure likes revisiting his most famous movies about 20 years after they were first released doesn’t he?

Presumably buoyed by the success of Trainspotting 2 20 years after the original was released, Boyle has now revealed that work has begun on a third movie in the 28 Day Later world. Presumably it’s going to be called 28 years later and will be released 28 years after the original because that timeline would almost work together.
Boyle was talking to The Independent when he decided to drop the bombshell:
Alex Garland and I have a wonderful idea for the third part. It’s properly good.
The original film led to a bit of a resurgence in the zombie drama and it doesn’t reference any of that. It doesn’t feel stale at all. He’s concentrating on directing his own work at the moment, so it’s stood in abeyance really, but it’s a you-never-know.
Well, properly good hey? That certainly sounds promising although it’s not so hot that Garland is concentrating on directing because that means he isn’t dedicating as much time to writing it now does it?
It’s worth bearing in mind that people were talking about Trainspotting 2 happening for about five or sic years before it eventually came to fruition, so we might have to wait the same amount of time for this sequel to appear as well. Will probably be worth the wait when it does though hey, given Boyle’s track record. We’ll see.
