It’s no secret that Dana White and Francis Ngannou parted on bad terms, so you can imagine the UFC boss was pretty chuffed with the way things went for his former champion when he stepped into boxing ring against Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia on Friday.
Here’s what Dana White had to say when asked about the fight at the post-event presser for UFC 299 on the weekend:
“If Fury trained for the fight and didn’t show up and look like he ate Tyson Fury, that’s probably the way that fight would’ve ended, too.”

“If Tyson Fury trained for the fight and didn’t show up looking like he ate Tyson Fury, that’s probably the way that fight would’ve ended too. Crossovers in boxing – that’s how they end, just like that.”
I guess he’s got a point, but I don’t think Francis Ngannou will regret the move too much, even if he did get brutally outclassed and KO’d by Anthony Joshua. After all, Ngannou has made $30 million from boxing already after the fights with Fury and Joshua, whereas his last UFC fight only netted him $600,000.
The lack of payday in the UFC is the reason he abandoned Dana White and MMA in the first place, so he’ll probably still feel vindicated in that regard. Worth getting your lights punched out by Anthony Joshua in front of the world? Probably.
