A pedestrian has been jailed for manslaughter after she yelled ‘get off the fxcking pavement’ at a cyclist, who then did as she was told and ended up being killed by oncoming traffic.
Auriol Grey, 49, was caught on CCTV shouting at retired midwife Celia Ward, 77, as they crossed paths in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Celia lost her balance and fell into the road before being hit by a VW Passat that was unable to stop.
Grey denied manslaughter but was found guilty and given three years in prison, which some people are saying is a bit harsh given that technically, cyclists aren’t allowed to be on the pavement (although at 77 – you should probably be allowed to). Still, watching the clip back, Grey not only yelled at the cyclist but also got in her way and essentially forced her into the road at the wrong moment. If she had just kept her mouth shut and minded her own business, Celia Ward would still be here today.
It’s just such a shame that this idiot’s Karen moment led to a fit and healthy 77-year-old losing her life in such brutal and avoidable circumstances. Not only that, but according to Road.cc, Grey left the scene before emergency services arrived and went to Sainsbury’s to do some shopping. Just a nasty piece of work through and through from the sounds of it.
