If there’s one film that doesn’t need a remake, it’s 90’s cult classic The Crow. But seeing as Hollywood insist on rebooting every decent movie in existence for ‘modern audiences’, we may as well check out the trailer and hope for the best following the dreadful promotional images that were released the other week. Watch below:

Have to admit – that wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be? OK I’m still not a fan of the Jared Leto Joker aesthetic and weirdo haircuts that they’ve gone for, but the crime/fight sequences look good and Bill Skarsgård actually seems like a great fit for Wes Draven. It’s also pretty clear that the soundtrack is not going to touch the original, but all in all, as a Crow remake, they could have done a lot worse.
Let’s be honest: they could have had the best cast and director on the planet behind this Crow remake and people would still have a problem with it, because no new version of any classic movie can ever be made without at least a bit of backlash. In The Crow’s case, this is probably heightened by the fact that the original’s star, Brandon Lee, was accidentally shot and killed on set during filming. They had to cut around the rest of his scenes and use body doubles to complete filming!
But I think if you watch this trailer objectively, it doesn’t look that bad. Might even be worth checking out at the cinema when it drops on June 7.
