‘The Crow’ is one of the finest cult classic films of the 90’s. OK it’s not exactly Oscar-worthy, but it’s creepy as hell, visually awesome, has a cool vibe/aura, and features a great final performance from Brandon Lee, who was tragically killed on set while filming the final scenes for the movie.
Unfortunately, The Crow seems to be the latest film that Hollywood has chosen to remake for no good reason whatsoever. When I first head it was happening, I was actually kinda optimistic due to the casting of Bill Skarsgård as Eric Draven, but after seeing the first promotional images come out this week, it’s pretty obvious that The Crow remake is going to completely suck:
Terrible. Just terrible! Why have they got The Crow looking like Jared Leto’s Joker, or worse still, like one of these drug-addicted emo mumble rappers with dumb face tattoos? Compare that to how cool and authentic Brandon Lee looked in the same role in the 90s original:
So cool that WCW wrestler Sting stole the look in 1999 and added another 20+ years to his career with it:
How have the producers of the 2024 remake not realised that half the appeal of The Crow was how bad@ss Brandon Lee looked as Eric Draven, and instead are reimagining him as the Florida Man who’s trying to sue the makers of GTA for ‘stealing’ his likeness?
Well anyway, I guess we’ll have to wait for trailer to be absolutely sure it’s going to suck, but judging from these early photos, it’s not looking good. But then what remake ever does, these days?
