A UK couple is offering free rent and a £50,000 per year salary for a nanny to work in their home. The catch? Apparently the house is extremely haunted.

So much so that five nannies have fled the home in Jedburgh, Roxburghshire, after seeing furniture moving and glass shattering and hearing strange noises.

Although the family haven’t experienced these themselves, they are fully aware of the previous complaints, so much so that they’ve had to up the salary to such a high sum. The nanny job itself involves looking after two kids aged five and seven and it is advertised on Childcare.co.uk.

In addition to the £50,000 per year, the live-in nanny would also have their own room with an en-suite bathroom and private kitchen. But again, there’s a catch and that’s that the house is in a remote spot and the nanny will be in sole charge of the kids for up to four nights a week while the parents are away. It’s sounding like the plot of a horror movie.

The advert says:

We have lived in our home for nearly 10 years.

We were told it was ‘haunted’ when we bought it, but kept our minds open and decided to buy the house regardless.

Five nannies have left the role in the last year, each citing supernatural incidents as the reason, including strange noises, broken glass and furniture moving.

It said that had resulted in a “period of great upheaval”.

We haven’t personally experienced any supernatural happenings, as they have been reported only while we’ve been out of the house, but we’re happy to pay above the asking rate, and feel it’s important to be as up-front as possible to find the right person.

But then I’m a massive pussy and the fact that five people have left already makes me think that the house is definitely haunted.
