For fuck’s sake — no sooner had CM Punk’s first MMA opponent been decided, he’s now gone and picked up a back injury that requires surgery, meaning the fight has to be delayed yet again.

Punk told MMAFighting:
My back has always bugged me. Figured it was just wrestling shit. Turns out it was.
It got bad enough to the point where I couldn’t do anything the week before I went to train with the New Jersey Devils last month. One day I could manage, the next day I couldn’t. I’ve been in agony for almost a month. Chiropractor, acupuncture, massage, cryotherapy … nothing worked.

I’m beginning to think this just isn’t going to happen. There’s always something with this guy. If he’s not moaning and bitching about pro wrestling, he’s getting injured and pushing back MMA fight dates for the 112th time. I’m not saying he’s faking the injury (obviously), but come on man, tired of hearing about your fights for the last 2 years only for you to keep pushing them back.
It’s probably for the best he never fights considering he’s 37 and never had a pro match before. I think pretty much everyone is expecting him to fall on his arse so maybe this way he won’t have to. He just needs to be careful before UFC fans tire of him the way WWE fans eventually did. As I’ve said before though — I’d personally love to see him return to WWE and finish his run properly. Slim chance of that happening though.
