Like the rest of us, it seems Christian Bale is a huge Leo guy, and was not short on praise for the Titanic legend when interviewed by GQ recently.

In fact he pretty much said all actors get Leo DiCaprio’s sloppy seconds, and that Leo was even cast ahead of him for the role of Patrick Bateman in American Psycho:

“Any role that anybody gets, it’s only because he’s passed on it before hand. It doesn’t matter what anyone tells you. It doesn’t matter how friendly you are with the directors. All those people that I’ve worked with multiple times, they all offered every one of those roles to him first.”

Pretty amazing coming from a legend like Christian Bale. I think most people would argue he’s technically a better actor than Leo? Doesn’t matter, because Leo is Leo, and he basically gets any role he wants. Bale isn’t bitter about this at all though, honestly:

“Literally, he gets to choose everything he does. And good for him, he’s phenomenal.

Do you know how grateful I am to get any damn thing? I mean, I can’t do what he does. I wouldn’t want the exposure that he has either. I would suspect that almost everybody of similar age to him in Hollywood owes their careers to him passing on whatever project it is.”

Okay man, we get it! Leo’s the best! Did LDC pay Christian Bale to remind everyone that he’s the top dog in Hollywood or something? Just an absolute avalanche of compliments from one screen legend to another. I guess it’s nice to see that sort of praise and respect at the top of the actor food chain, and it’s probably the way most people in the industry feel about Leo anyway. Now if only we could get Leo DiCaprio and Christian Bale to work together on something. Hopefully this is the spark that makes it happen…
