I think we all know that there are some amazing mullets down in the Deep South of the USA, but I don’t think I was aware that parents imposed that hairstyle on their young kids at this point in their lives.

Turns out that not only do they give them the hairstyle, but there’s also an annual competition celebrating the best ones that they have out there. The official Facebook page for the USA Kids Mullet Championships has posted up the 25 finalists for this year’s edition and well, they’re just as outrageous and great (?) as you might expect.

Wow. I got no idea which one of those is my favourite but the one aspect of them all that really struck me was how happy they all seem to be in every photo, almost like the mullet is giving them insane amounts of joy. Their attire kinda gives you some clue as to where and how they’ve been brought up which probably has something do with that. Can’t knock those big smiles though can you, even if they’re almost certainly going to grow up to be ardent anti vaxxers and pro lifers or whatever.

I think if I was pushed then I would probably go for the one sitting on the Badlands car because it’s probably the best pose out there? Not sure about the quality of the mullet though – maybe number three if we’re looking at that? Really don’t know or what the criteria are either.

I don’t envy these judges but I’m interested to see who they pick out as the winner. Gonna be a lot of disappointed kids out there thats for sure.
