The team managed to hack into a chain of plastic surgery clinics in Lithuania, where they stole and made public over 25,000 private photos as well as other personal data files.
A local paper reported that among the files that were stolen were naked before and after shots of people who had received procedures Grozio Chirurgija (an example of which you can see above). The leak includes more than 1,500 British people. Police state that several hundred images were released in March, while the rest of the database was made public yesterday and now the hackers are seeking pay out from the customers affected.
Andzejus Raginskis, Deputy Chief of Lithuania’s Criminal Police Bureau, said:
It’s extortion. We’re talking about a serious crime.
Victims have allegedly been told to pay up to €2,000 in order to ensure that their details and naked pictures would not be made public.
It seems super harsh to play on someone’s insecurities like that, but then I guess this is the way things are going these days. Unfortunately, hackers are getting more and more sophisticated and now they can do things like this to make a bit of cash. Obviously with regards to plastic surgery, there’s not a lot you can do, but to keep yourself protected in the long run, try not to share your personal details with things like anal fisting websites. It might just come back to bite you in the ass.
